Lexington Children's Place
New School with Early Site and Demo Package
(Completion Aug. 2019) Project Cost: $18M Total Area: 18,945 square feet Designer: DiNisco Design Partnership This project was broken down into 2 Phases. Phase 1 included an early Site and Demo package to abate and completely remove an existing 50,000 GSF school the town purchased that was beyond its useful life and too large for the New School’s program requirements. The site was cleared and stripped. Several thousand cubic yards of gravel were imported to the site to bring the grade up several feet to a new level working platform ready for the second phase. The Building is designed and constructed utilizing LEED guidelines and is NET-ZERO ready. Efficiency and Sustainability are extremely important to the Town of Lexington. The new building has a 30% increase in performance over stretch code compliance. This all-electric building is well insulated and is heated and cooled by a Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) HVAC system. This system utilizes Mitsubishi Hyper Heat air source heat pumps as well as an Energy Recovery Ventilator combined with a Daikin Air source heat pump to Re-heat/temper the return air. The building and site are Solar PV-ready and will achieve the Net Zero once complete. |
