Lexington Fire Station
(Completed August 2020)
Size: 26,000 GSF
Construction Cost: $ 14,600,000
Designer: Tecton Architects
The project included renovation of an existing Town-Owned building as swing-space / temporary quarters for the fire department equipment and personnel during construction of the new station at the existing site.
The existing station was required to be abated, demolished and the existing site required extensive ground improvements, contaminated soil removal and new site infrastructure to support the enlarged new headquarters. Traffic Improvements at an adjacent intersection were also incorporated into the project.
The new Fire Headquarters features a larger apron, six apparatus bays, kitchen, training, overnight accommodations for both male and female fire fighters, day room, decontamination and storage areas.
The facility is designed to achieve LEED Gold or Silver Certification and will exceed the MA Stretch Code by 30%.
Construction Commenced in December 2018 and is anticipated to finish in the spring of 2020.
