Rowley Police & Fire Departments
Addition / Renovation and New Construction
(Opened June 2019) Construction Cost: $11,700,000 Total Area: 30,000 GSF (Combined) Designer: The Carell Group Contractor: Castagna Construction The existing Rowley Police Station was originally constructed in 1984 as a masonry-framed structure, with modular trailers later added in 2005. With the lease on the modular trailers due to expire, the Town sought a more permanent solution, incorporating an 8,000 SF addition onto the existing building. The new facility encompasses approximately 13,000 GSF, and includes new administrative offices, conference spaces and locker rooms / shower facilities for both male and female officers, as well as upgrades to the mechanical and electrical systems, secured prisoner transfer area and covered vehicle parking at the rear of the station. Renovations to the prisoner processing and detention areas brought the areas to current code compliance, and new dispatch furniture and equipment were incorporated into the project. The work at the police station was completed as an occupied addition / renovation and successfully completed in three phases without interruption to on-going police operations. The new Fire Station measured approximately 17,000 sq. and included three drive-through apparatus bays, decontamination facilities, administrative offices, training room, dayroom, kitchen and record storage. The new station will also provide overnight accommodations for twelve fire fighters, including bunk rooms, locker rooms / shower facilities for both male and female firefighters. |
